How Long Does a Bathroom Remodel Take?

One of the most common questions we hear is “how long will my bathroom remodel take?” Here’s a realistic breakdown of the typical timeline.

Planning & Design Phase: 2–4 Weeks

This is where the magic starts. During this phase, we’ll:Conduct an in-home consultation and take measurementsDiscuss your goals, style preferences, and budgetCreate a detailed design plan with 3D renderingsSelect materials (tile, fixtures, vanity, hardware)Finalize your proposal and project scope

Pro tip: Material selection is often the most time-consuming part. Having a general idea of your style preferences before the consultation can speed things up.

Permitting: 1–2 Weeks

Depending on your city and the scope of work, permits may be required for plumbing, electrical, or structural changes. We handle all permitting so you don’t have to worry about it.

Demolition: 1–3 Days

Out with the old! Demo typically takes 1–3 days depending on the size of the bathroom and how much is being removed. This includes removing old tile, fixtures, vanity, and drywall as needed.

Rough-In Work: 3–5 Days

This is when we move or install plumbing and electrical behind the walls. If you’re changing the layout of your bathroom (moving the toilet, adding a shower where the tub was, etc.), this phase may take longer.

Waterproofing & Backer Board: 2–3 Days

Proper waterproofing is critical. We install cement backer board and apply waterproofing membrane to all wet areas. This step protects your home from water damage for decades to come.

Tile Installation: 3–7 Days

Tile work is the most time-intensive part of the project. Complex patterns, large showers, and intricate designs take longer. This includes setting the tile, grouting, and sealing.

Fixture Installation & Finishing: 2–4 Days

The fun part — watching it all come together! We install the vanity, toilet, faucets, showerhead, mirrors, lighting, hardware, and accessories. Paint touch-ups and caulking happen here too.

Final Walkthrough: 1 Day

We walk through the completed bathroom together, test everything, and make sure you’re 100% satisfied before we consider the project complete.
