Process note: diagnose before quoting
Electrical symptoms rarely point at their cause. A flickering light in one room can be a loose neutral in a completely different box, and quoting that sight-unseen helps nobody. We start with a diagnostic visit — open devices, test the circuit, map what feeds what — and quote from findings. On renovation projects, electrical is scheduled before drywall and finishes so nothing has to be reopened.

Why do my breakers trip when the microwave and toaster run together?
Almost always because both are on the same 20-amp kitchen circuit. Older homes were wired for a fraction of today's kitchen load. The fix is usually a dedicated circuit for the high-draw appliance rather than a bigger breaker — increasing breaker size on existing wire is the wrong answer and a genuinely unsafe one.
My house has two-prong outlets. What are my options?
Three, depending on what's in the wall. If there's a ground conductor present but unconnected, we bond it and install standard three-prong receptacles. If there's no ground, code allows GFCI protection with the appropriate labeling as an interim measure. The permanent fix is running new grounded circuits, which we usually do room by room as budget allows.
Do I need a panel upgrade?
The honest answer depends on your actual load and the panel itself. A 100-amp service running a heat pump, an EV charger and a modern kitchen is at its limit. Some older panel brands also have well-documented reliability problems and get flagged in home inspections regardless of amperage. We'll open it, look, and tell you if it's fine.
